Republican Candidate Haley Withdraws from Primary, Leaving Trump as Sole Contender
Nikki Haley Withdraws from Republican Presidential Race After Super Tuesday Defeat
Former US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has announced her decision to withdraw from the Republican presidential race after former President Donald Trump’s decisive victory in the primaries known as “Super Tuesday.”
Haley, who came in second in the primaries, made the announcement at a press conference in South Carolina, stating, “It is now up to Donald Trump to win the votes of those who do not support him within and outside our party.” While expressing gratitude for the support she received throughout the country, Haley also acknowledged that it was time to put her campaign on hold.
Despite her defeat in most states during the Super Tuesday elections held in 15 states, Haley managed to secure victory only in Vermont. She did not explicitly state whether she would be supporting Trump moving forward.
The race for the Republican nomination continues to unfold as Trump solidifies his position as the frontrunner. Haley’s decision to step back from the campaign marks a significant development in the ongoing political landscape of the United States.
