Retiree Additional Raises: What’s the Timeline?

The Turkish government has taken a significant step in improving the welfare of retirees and those who are currently unemployed. The proposal for additional increases in SSK and Bağ-Kur pensions has been accepted in the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Commission, and will now move to the General Assembly stage.

In addition to the changes in pension payments, a bill amending the unemployment law was also discussed in the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Commission. The proposal for additional increases in SSK and Bağ-Kur pensions was added to the 10-article proposal and was accepted. The bill will be discussed in the General Assembly of the Parliament next week and is expected to become law. Once the law is published in the Official Gazette, retirees will receive their additional raise differences.

With the new changes, the January salary increase of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will be boosted from 37.57 percent to 42.57 percent. Additionally, the lowest pension will increase from 7,500 TL to 10,000 TL.

Furthermore, the proposal includes adjustments to the short-time working allowance. “General epidemic” situations will now be added to the short-time working reasons. The minimum number of premium payment days required to qualify for the allowance will be reduced from 600 days to 450 days. In order to be eligible for the allowance, the insured must have been subject to a service contract for the last 120 days before the start of short-time working and have worked as an insured for at least 450 days in the last 3 years while paying unemployment insurance premiums. The allowance will be paid to the insured monthly on the 5th of each month, and minimum wage support will be 700 lira.

These changes aim to improve the financial security of retirees and provide support to those who are unemployed. The measures have been welcomed by many, and they are expected to have a positive impact on the welfare of individuals in Turkey.

In other news, foreign investors have shown increased interest in Turkey, leading to an acceleration in money inflow to the country. This development is seen as a positive sign for the Turkish economy.
