Roundtable Discussion on Cooperation with Central Asian Ambassadors Held in Islamabad
The Institute of Regional Studies Islamabad (IRSI) recently hosted a roundtable event titled “Ambassadors’ Dialogue on Regional Cooperation” on February 6. The event brought together key figures including Senator Mushahid Hussain of Pakistan, IRSI President Johar Salim, and ambassadors from Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
The discussions at the event focused on various important topics such as enhancing political-diplomatic relations, exploring opportunities to boost trade and investment, promoting energy cooperation and regional connectivity, fostering cultural diplomacy, and working together on climate issues within the region.
Turkmen Ambassador Atajan Movlamov highlighted significant energy and infrastructure projects initiated by Turkmenistan, including the TAPI and TAP pipelines. He specifically mentioned the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section of the TAPI gas pipeline, emphasizing the positive impact these projects would have on economic development, job creation, and enhancing the well-being of people in Pakistan.
Ambassador Movlamov also brought attention to the UN General Assembly Resolution declaring 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, an initiative put forth by Turkmenistan. He shared Turkmenistan’s commitment to promoting peace and trust in international relations through collaborative efforts.
During the discussions, participants emphasized the importance of joint efforts in maintaining peace and building trust amidst the current trends and events in international relations. The dialogue highlighted the shared commitment to regional cooperation and collaboration for peace and prosperity.
