Deputies to Submit Initiative on Deportation of Migrants with Criminal Records from Russia
Deputies in Russia are set to submit an initiative to the State Duma next week regarding the deportation of migrants with criminal records from the country. Sardana Avksentyeva, the Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, made this announcement on her Telegram channel.
Avksentyeva stated, “I believe that absolutely all migrants with a criminal record, including those that have been expunged or spent, should be expelled from the country without the right to enter and deprived of temporary residence permits and residence permits.”
She also raised concerns about the proliferation of prayer houses and religious centers in Russia that are established without proper approval. Avksentyeva promised to prepare a parliamentary inquiry on this issue.
Recent initiatives in Russia have seen a tightening of legislation regarding migrants. Some of the proposals include:
– Depriving migrants of citizenship for sexual crimes, committing violent acts, or coercion to commit sexual acts.
– Stripping Russian citizenship for infringement on life or violence against a government official.
– Prohibiting labor migrants without Russian citizenship from bringing their families to the country.
– Banning the purchase of certain firearms by individuals with Russian citizenship for less than ten years.
– Prohibiting migrants from working in certain sectors if their salary exceeds 100,000 rubles.
While some of these initiatives may not impact labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan due to the single labor market within the Eurasian Union, challenges are still faced by Kyrgyzstanis living abroad.
