Russia Strikes Ukrainian Reserves and Arsenals with Long-Range Weapons
Russian forces launch attacks on Ukrainian troops
The Russian army has claimed responsibility for a recent attack on temporary positions of the Ukrainian army. The spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Konashenkov, stated that the Russian armed forces launched an intense attack using high-precision long-range weapons from the sea and air. The attack, which was directed at enemy reserve troops and ammunition depots, was successful as all determined targets were hit. According to Konashenkov, the attack prevented the advance of reserve troops and disrupted ammunition shipments to conflict areas.
The Russian army continues to engage in conflict with Ukrainian troops on the western outskirts of Bahmut, towards Donetsk, with the backing of Russian airborne forces. Konashenkov stated that so far, 419 aircraft, 230 helicopters, 4,052 unmanned aerial vehicles, 421 air defense missile systems, 9,046 tanks and armored vehicles, 1098 multi-barrel rocket launchers, and 4,774 howitzers and mortars have been deployed by Russian forces in Ukraine. In addition, they claim to have destroyed a private military vehicle.
The Ukrainian government has yet to comment on the attack. Tensions between Russia and Ukraine have been high since the annexation of Crimea in 2014, with Ukraine accusing Russia of supporting separatist rebels in the eastern part of the country. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of thousands of people and has caused a humanitarian crisis, with many people displaced from their homes. The international community has condemned Russia’s actions and has imposed economic sanctions on the country. The latest attack by Russian forces is likely to escalate tensions further.
