Russia suggests full membership for Uzbekistan in Anti-Corruption Council to enhance collaboration
Russia’s Prosecutor General, Igor Krasnov, has expressed his belief that Uzbekistan’s expertise in combating corruption would be a valuable addition to the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council (IACC). During a meeting with Akmal Burkhanov, Director of Uzbekistan’s Anti-Corruption Agency, Krasnov emphasized the importance of Uzbekistan becoming a full member of the council, as it would increase its significance within the organization.
“I am convinced that the Republic of Uzbekistan’s full membership in the Council will give it greater weight, and the significant experience of the anti-corruption work led by your agency will be in demand in the practical activities of all members of the organization,” stated Krasnov.
In order to strengthen cooperation efforts in combating corruption, Russia’s Prosecutor General proposed that Akmal Burkhanov consider signing a cooperation agreement with the council.
This marks the first time that a delegation from Uzbekistan has participated in the meeting of the IACC as an observer. Currently, the council includes representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
With Uzbekistan’s potential full membership in the IACC, it is clear that the country’s anti-corruption efforts are being recognized on an international level. Through collaboration with other member states, Uzbekistan can contribute its valuable expertise to the collective fight against corruption.
