Russia Launches Intense Air Strikes on Ukraine, Including the Capital
Russia carried out a series of air strikes on Ukrainian cities, including the capital of Kiev, during the night. The attack involved Tu-95 planes, cruise missiles, and UAVs. The head of the Kiev City Military Administration, Sergey Popko, reported that the attacks were intense and lasted for three hours. Popko stated that all of the missiles and UAVs were destroyed by the defense systems in the Kiev airspace, with no casualties or damages to apartments or infrastructures reported.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Chief of General Staff, Valeriy Zaluzhny, reported that the Russian forces launched 18 cruise missiles into Ukraine, with 15 of them destroyed by the Ukrainian forces. According to the statement from the Ukrainian General Staff, the Russian army attacked the cities of Kramatorsk, Konstantinivka, and Pavlograd with five missiles during the night.
However, images shared on social media of the attacks on Pavlograd showed that windows in apartments were broken, and a fire broke out in parts of the city. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Region Military Administration, Sergey Lisak, stated that 25 people, including three children, were injured in the attacks.
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has seen a series of attacks and clashes in recent years, with both sides blaming each other for the escalation of violence. The latest airstrikes have raised concerns about the safety and security of the people living in the affected areas, as well as the potential impact on the ongoing peace negotiations between the two nations.
