A 30-person crowdfunded hacker group associated with Inform Napalm has been targeting Russian soldiers and commanders, making their lives infinitely more difficult. Not only have they developed techniques to identify and locate Russian armored units, resulting in the destruction of numerous tanks and vehicles, but they have also taken a more personal approach in their attacks.
In one shocking operation, the hackers managed to unveil the identity of the Russian aviation commander responsible for bombing a theater in Mariupol, where hundreds of civilians tragically lost their lives. By tricking the commander’s wife into sharing nude photos of herself and other officers, the hackers obtained sensitive information that ultimately led to the exposure of the commander’s involvement in war crimes.
Using this personal information, the hackers impersonated an officer from the commander’s regiment and orchestrated a fake “patriotic photo shoot” featuring the wives and girlfriends of front-line soldiers. This elaborate scheme allowed Ukrainian authorities to identify these individuals, further implicating the Russian military in their actions.
In a separate operation, Inform Napalm targeted the commander of a Russian artillery unit who falsified hospital records to deceive his wife into believing he had contracted HIV in Ukraine. This deceitful act led to the suspension of the commander from duty, showcasing the group’s ability to use cyber tactics to disrupt and expose Russian military operations.
Inform Napalm has claimed to have sent information obtained through these operations to the International Criminal Court, aiming to contribute to the ongoing investigation into Russian war crimes in Ukraine.
