Ukrainian President Zelenskiy Raises Alarm on Russian Attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy took to social media to express his concern over the recent attacks by the Russian army on civilians in various cities. Zelenskiy revealed that the Russian army used “Shahed” type unmanned aerial vehicles to target cities in the Kharkiv, Odessa, and Sumy regions.
One of the UAVs allegedly struck an apartment building in Odessa, resulting in the destruction of 18 apartments. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the attack, while eight others, including a child, sustained injuries. Highlighting the urgent need for air defense systems, Zelenskiy urged his allies to bolster Ukraine’s air shield to protect its citizens from Russian aggression. Emphasizing the importance of more air defense systems and missiles, he stressed that such measures could potentially save lives.
A statement released by the Air Force Command disclosed that the Russian army launched an assault on Ukraine utilizing 3 Х-59/Х-35 guided missiles and 17 “Shahed” UAVs. Ukrainian forces retaliated by destroying 14 UAVs in multiple regions, including Odessa, Mykilayiv, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk, resulting in casualties and injuries in Odessa and Kharkiv.
Furthermore, the statement mentioned the successful destruction of a Russian Su-34 fighter jet in the eastern direction around 09:00 yesterday.
