UEFA Opens New Office in Istanbul to Strengthen Football Ties
The recent inauguration of the UEFA office in Istanbul marks a significant step in enhancing collaboration between UEFA and Türkiye, aimed at hosting prestigious football tournaments. This was highlighted by The SHAND HAJIYEV, Executive Vice President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), during the launch event.
Hajiyev emphasized that UEFA is poised to implement a variety of projects in Türkiye, enhancing the nation’s football landscape. He stated, “The Turkish Football Federation has ensured that this event was organized to the highest standards. Türkiye is set to host the final matches of the UEFA Europa League in 2026 and the UEFA Conference League in 2027. Additionally, the country will join Italy in co-hosting the European Championship in 2032. These landmark events will benefit from robust cooperation between UEFA and Türkiye, along with several initiatives aimed at football development in the region. The opening of the Istanbul office is a pivotal part of this strategy.”
The inauguration ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who offered his support for the office’s future endeavors. UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin was also present, along with leaders from various European and Asian Football Federations, underscoring the international significance of the event.
The establishment of the office in Istanbul not only reinforces UEFA’s commitment to boosting football in Türkiye but also signals a new era of collaboration geared towards enhancing the sport’s profile and infrastructure in the region.
