SCO Cultural Evening: Beijing Orient Spring and Lantern Festival Celebration
A Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) cultural evening was held in Beijing on February 14, 2025, to commemorate the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival. The event brought together diplomats from SCO member states, along with their families, and staff from the SCO Secretariat and the China Committee for Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation.
The Lantern Festival, celebrated on February 12th this year, symbolized unity and cultural exchange among the participating countries.
SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev highlighted how the values represented in these festivals align with the principles of the "Shanghai Spirit" and universal human values.
The evening included workshops on Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, and the making of traditional dishes like yuanxiao (sweet glutinous rice flour balls consumed during the Lantern Festival). This event marked an important milestone in strengthening friendship and cooperation among the peoples of the SCO member states.
