
SCO Investors Association Convenes Inaugural Meeting in Astana

The Association of Investors of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states recently held its first meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan. This meeting, which took place on March 18, was reported by the Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s press service.
The establishment of the Investors Association was a decision made by the SCO Heads of State Council during the Astana Summit in July of the previous year. The purpose of this association is to serve as a platform for promoting direct and portfolio investments, as well as supporting priority economic sectors within SCO member states.
During the meeting, participants, including representatives from government agencies, as well as over 20 investment agencies and foundations, discussed current and prospective areas of cooperation within the SCO. They exchanged views on potential investment projects in key sectors of the economy, with a focus on enhancing the investment climate and addressing existing barriers in this field.
Following their discussions, the participants adopted the Association’s Work Plan and signed the meeting Minutes. This marks a significant step towards enhancing investment opportunities and cooperation within the SCO member states. It demonstrates a commitment to fostering economic growth and development in the region.
