SECCA Transfers First Technical Document on Electrical Installation Safety Measures to Turkmenistan Orient
The recent visit of experts and international consultants from the European Union’s SECCA project to Turkmenistan has paved the way for enhanced cooperation between the EU and Turkmenistan in the areas of sustainable energy and climate policy. The visit, which took place from March 31st to April 4th, 2025, included meetings with representatives from the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the UNDP project “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Cities Development in Ashgabat and Avaza.”
One of the highlights of the visit was the transfer of the first technical document by the experts, which contained recommendations on the safe operation of electrical installations. Additionally, two international conferences were held as part of the visit. The first conference, titled “Supporting Decision-Making in the Energy Sector for Sustainable Energy Development in Turkmenistan,” took place on April 2nd, 2025, in Ashgabat. The second conference, “Systems Thinking for Integrated Analysis in Energy and Climate: Exploring the Specifics of Sustainable Energy Development in Turkmenistan,” was held on April 4th, 2025, in Mary.
These conferences focused on supporting decision-making in the energy sector and systems analysis in the fields of energy and climate. The SECCA visit also involved a visit to the construction site of the State Energy Institute in Mary to familiarize with new energy efficiency technologies. Discussions were held regarding the possibility of awarding the building a “Green Certificate” upon completion of construction.
Overall, the visit of experts and international consultants from the SECCA project has been instrumental in fostering collaboration between the EU and Turkmenistan in advancing sustainable energy and climate policies.
