Selçuk Bayraktar Reveals Launch of Fergani’s First Satellite

Baykar’s First Satellite “FGN-100-d1” Launched into Space Successfully

In an exciting development, Baykar has launched its first satellite into space as part of its space project. The satellite named “FGN-100-d1,” belonging to Baykar’s subsidiary Fergani Space, was sent into orbit as part of SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission. The successful launch took place at the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA, where the FGN-100-d1 was launched into space alongside 131 other payloads with a Falcon 9 rocket.

Selçuk Bayraktar, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baykar, expressed his pride in this achievement by stating, “After reaching our 20-year target, we set our sights on space studies and embarked on this exciting journey.” He further explained that the goal of the Fergani project, which has been ongoing for about 2 years, is to build a global positioning system.

The successful launch of the FGN-100-d1 satellite was broadcast live on SpaceX’s X account, showcasing the accomplishment of the Transporter-12 mission. In addition, an ignition test of the hydrogen peroxide space engine of the Fergani satellite was successfully conducted in May last year, marking a significant milestone in the project.

Fergani Space aims to differentiate itself in the global arena by offering sustainable and cost-effective solutions in space transportation and low orbit satellite services through its innovative and original technologies.

The Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, also shared his excitement for the successful launch of the first satellite by Fergani. He highlighted the importance of this achievement in strengthening the country’s space ecosystem and emphasized that the National Space Program targets will continue to be pursued.

With the launch of the FGN-100-d1 satellite and other satellites like Plan-S’s Connecta IoT satellites, the space ecosystem in Turkey is poised to grow stronger, in alignment with the goals set forth in the National Space Program. This achievement marks a significant milestone in Turkey’s journey towards becoming a key player in the global space industry.
