Serdar Berdimuhamedov discusses cooperation with Iraqi Prime Minister by phone
President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, held a telephone conversation on March 5 to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The conversation began with warm greetings exchanged for the holy month of Oraza, with both leaders extending their well-wishes to each other and the people of Turkmenistan and Iraq. President Berdimuhamedov acknowledged the strong bilateral relations between the two nations based on mutual respect, equality, and trust, conveying the best wishes of the National Leader of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s high regard for its relations with Turkmenistan, highlighting the dynamic development across political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Both leaders emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation and enhancing diplomatic ties between the two countries.
President Berdimuhamedov thanked Iraq for its continuous support of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, particularly its stance of permanent neutrality. The discussion also touched upon the collaboration in the gas sector, with Turkmenistan supplying natural gas to Iraq under a swap agreement through Iran.
Looking ahead, President Berdimuhamedov invited Prime Minister Al-Sudani to attend an International Forum in Ashgabat on December 12, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. The Prime Minister graciously accepted the invitation, acknowledging the significance of Turkmenistan’s initiatives for global peace and development.
