President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, recently met with Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, during the latter’s official visit to Ashgabat on Friday, March 7. The discussions highlighted the friendly and constructive nature of Turkmen-Georgian relations, based on equality, mutual respect, and trust. Georgia’s support for Turkmenistan’s peacekeeping initiatives, including the proposal to declare 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, was appreciated. A Forum for Peace and Trust is set to take place in Ashgabat on December 12, with Prime Minister Kobakhidze invited to the high-level meeting. Georgia expressed keenness to enhance the friendly dialogue and partnership with Turkmenistan, commending its neutral policy and peacekeeping efforts in the region.

The delegations of both countries engaged in talks to explore opportunities for expanding trade and economic relations, diversifying trade, increasing turnover, and launching joint projects. Transport, communications, and energy sectors emerged as key areas of focus, with Georgia expressing interest in gas sector cooperation. The bilateral documents signed during the visit are expected to give a boost to Turkmen-Georgian partnership.

The visit underscored the commitment of Turkmenistan and Georgia to further strengthen ties and explore new avenues of collaboration for mutual benefit. The shared vision for regional peace and prosperity was encapsulated in the discussions, setting the stage for deeper engagement and cooperation between the two nations.
