South Korea Probes Indonesian Engineers for Stealing Fighter Jet Data

South Korean Engineers Under Investigation for Alleged Technology Theft

According to reports from Yonhap, engineers at Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) are currently under investigation for allegedly storing data related to the development of the “KF-21” fighter jet on a USB memory stick.

The Defense Acquisition Program Agency (DAPA) has stated that a joint investigation, involving the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS), is underway to look into the suspected technology theft by Indonesian engineers working on the project.

Sources familiar with the matter have indicated that the focus of the investigation is to determine whether the stored data contained strategic technologies related to the “KF-21” development program.

As part of the investigation, the Indonesian engineers involved have been prohibited from leaving South Korea.

The “KF-21” project is a significant endeavor for South Korea, with plans to commence production by the end of this year and deliver 120 of these advanced aircraft to the Air Force by 2032.

It remains to be seen how the investigation will unfold and what impact it may have on the development and production of the “KF-21” fighter jet. Stay tuned for further updates as the story continues to develop.
