Spanish Government to Submit Decision Text for Recognition of Palestinian State
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced in a speech in the city of Bilbao in the Basque region that the government will submit a decision text for the recognition of the Palestinian state to the Parliament in this legislative period. The move is part of Sanchez’s efforts to push for an international peace conference and a two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Sanchez emphasized that the recognition of the Palestinian state is not only a moral imperative but also the only way for Israel and Palestine to live and coexist as two separate states. During a vote of confidence in Parliament for the minority left-wing coalition government, Sanchez highlighted that the priority of the new government will be to work towards recognizing the Palestinian state.
