Starlink Internet System Begins Testing in Rwanda Schools
The Starlink internet system has recently commenced its testing phase in 50 schools across Rwanda, according to The New Times. This development means that approximately 18,000 students will be granted internet access through the use of Starlink satellites.
The Rwandan government’s objective is to ensure faster and more convenient internet access throughout the entire country with the implementation of the Starlink internet system. In an effort to achieve this goal, Rwanda plans to connect all schools in the nation via Starlink satellites, which are owned by Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, by the end of 2024. In the month of February, Rwanda granted permission for the Starlink system to offer nation-wide services, and it was announced that 500 schools across the country will benefit from the use of the Starlink satellites.
Now, what exactly is Starlink? It is a space-based system that SpaceX has been diligently working on for several years. The primary aim of Starlink is to provide internet access to underprivileged areas worldwide that currently lack proper connectivity. Through an array of thousands of orbital satellites, Starlink, belonging to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, offers high-speed and broadband internet to even the most remote corners of the world.
SpaceX has ambitious plans to establish an extensive network of 12,000 satellites in Earth’s orbit using Starlink. This project, projected to be finalized by 2027, will effectively expand the reach of internet connectivity to previously inaccessible regions.
With the implementation of the Starlink internet system in Rwanda’s schools, thousands of students will gain access to educational resources and opportunities that were previously inaccessible. This development is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and creating a more interconnected world.
