Fırtına Gençlerbirliği, a team competing in the Sakarya 2nd Amateur League, made headlines recently for their unique protest during a match. Due to financial difficulties and lack of equipment, the team took to the field wearing rubber shoes, symbolizing their struggle.
The team, feeling neglected and unsupported, decided to make a statement by starting the match with the boots given by the opposing team. Despite the challenging circumstances, Fırtına Gençlerbirliği managed to secure a 4-2 victory in the match.
Following their win, the team’s representative, Ali İhsan Tarım, spoke out about the team’s hardships. “We were forced to wear rubber shoes due to our inability to purchase proper equipment. It’s truly shameful that we had to resort to such measures. We urge the mayors and other authorities to provide the necessary support to our team, just like they do for other clubs.”
