Mongolian Universities Extend Period of Leave for Students Affected by Zhud Disaster
In light of the recent zhud disaster in certain provinces of Mongolia, universities across the country have taken the initiative to provide a period of leave for students coming from those affected areas. The Mongolian University of Science and Technology was the first to implement this decision, with other state universities following suit.
The Mongolian University of Science and Technology, with over 1700 students from provinces, has granted approximately 850 students a leave of absence for up to one month. These students are required to participate in online lessons and take their exams during this time.
At the National University of Mongolia, students hailing from provinces impacted by the zhud disaster must submit a written request for approval to be excused from classes. If approved, students can opt to study online if necessary.
Similarly, the Mongolian State University of Education is also offering leave to students from affected provinces. In this case, students must submit a written request to the Education department of their respective school. Missed lessons can be made up in the following term, and officials have noted that only a few students have applied for leave so far.
As for the University of Medical Sciences, arrangements are being made to accommodate students affected by the disaster in as flexible a manner as possible. While the exact number of students who have applied for leave is not yet known, those who have been approved can continue their studies online.
The universities are working to ensure that students impacted by the zhud disaster are able to continue their education while dealing with the challenges brought on by the natural disaster. This period of leave aims to provide necessary support and flexibility for students during this difficult time.
