Suspension of Hepatitis B Vaccination for Adults in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzfarmatsiya State Enterprise Comments on Suspension of Hepatitis B Vaccination for Adults
Bishkek – 15:52, 05 March 2025 – Amidst the recent news of the suspension of vaccination of adults against hepatitis B, Kyrgyzfarmatsiya state enterprise has provided clarification on the matter to 24.kg news agency.
The state enterprise conducted monitoring of the availability of vaccines on the market, which resulted in the identification of three possible manufacturers. Two of these manufacturers have official World Health Organization prequalification, indicating their compliance with international quality standards. These companies have expressed readiness to supply vaccines within 120 days. The third manufacturer, although lacking WHO prequalification, is capable of providing the vaccine in a shorter timeframe of 30 days.
Due to these considerations, the purchase of vaccines has been temporarily suspended as the commission evaluates factors such as delivery speed, quality, and safety of the vaccines. The priority remains the health of citizens and compliance with international quality standards. Kyrgyzfarmatsiya state enterprise is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to resume purchasing as soon as the commission reaches a final decision.
The issue of the shortage of hepatitis B vaccine was raised in Parliament, with the vaccination campaign for adults commencing in December 2022 with supplies from Russia. However, there are no issues with the vaccination of children, who continue to be vaccinated according to the national calendar.
The health and safety of the population remain paramount, and Kyrgyzfarmatsiya state enterprise is committed to ensuring the availability of high-quality vaccines for all individuals.
