Swiss Ambassador Donates Computers and Licenses to Support Health Care in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek – On March 12, 2024, Swiss Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Olivier Bangerter handed over 320 computers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and Kaspersky licenses to the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev. The donation aims to support the technical equipping of Groups of Family Doctors in the country.

The equipment was transferred to 228 primary health care organizations in the south of the country and in Bishkek to strengthen e-health services. This donation is expected to play a crucial role in improving the quality of primary health care and the treatment of non-communicable diseases in Kyrgyzstan. It will also facilitate monitoring and evaluation of programs and activities, ultimately leading to an enhancement of the health status of the population.

Minister Beishenaliev highlighted the significance of e-health development in the country’s public health protection program for the years 2019-2030. He stated, “The development of e-health improves the quality of medical services, reduces the workload of employees in medical organizations, and decreases the waiting time for patients.”

The donation of equipment falls under the Swiss project “Effective Management and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan.” During the first phase of the project from January 2018 to June 2022, 419 computers and 358 printers were purchased for primary health care organizations in Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Talas, and Chui regions. Additionally, two servers were acquired for the E-Health Center to facilitate the introduction of e-health services.

Overall, this generous donation from the Swiss Ambassador is expected to have a positive impact on the healthcare system in Kyrgyzstan, ultimately benefiting the population and contributing to the country’s health system growth.
