Tashiev: Bakiyev will be arrested if he returns to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic – The Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, clarified that the recent decision by the Constitutional Court regarding former president Kurmanbek Bakiyev is not related to the current government. In a post on Facebook, Tashiev emphasized that the Constitutional Court is an independent body.

Tashiev also stated that the Supreme Court’s verdict against Bakiyev remains valid, and if he were to return to Kyrgyzstan, he would be arrested immediately upon crossing the border. This serves as a warning to the former president, who has been living in exile.

The Constitutional Court of Kyrgyzstan recently reviewed a petition submitted by Bakiyev’s lawyer and issued its conclusion on the matter. The legal proceedings reaffirm the country’s commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law.

It is clear that the government is firm in its stance on holding individuals accountable for any wrongdoing, regardless of their past positions of power. The legal system in Kyrgyzstan continues to operate independently to ensure transparency and fairness in all judicial matters.
