Police Officer Sentenced to 15 Years for Raping 13-Year-Old Girl
In a shocking and disturbing case, a police officer in Tashkent region has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the rape of a 13-year-old girl. The incident took place in July 2023 and the officer, identified as M.J., worked as a prophylactic inspector in the capital’s Yashnabad district.
The Bostanlyk district court on criminal proceedings completed the trial on December 25, 2023, and the verdict was announced. The case was considered in a closed court session in accordance with the requirements of the Criminal Procedural Code.
M.J. was found guilty of committing the crime against the 13-year-old girl under Article 118-4 (raping) of the Criminal Code. In addition to his imprisonment, a notice was sent to the Bostanlyk district prosecutor to decide the issue of criminal proceedings against three individuals who created conditions for M.J. to sexually assault the young girl.
This disturbing case is not an isolated incident. Prior to this, a National Guard officer who raped a 13-year-old girl in Kibray district was also imprisoned for 15 years.
The Supreme Court press secretary reported on the sentencing, bringing to light the heinous crime committed by the police officer. It is a stark reminder of the importance of holding those in positions of authority accountable for their actions. The incident first came to light through the NeMolchi.uz project, and serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing and preventing sexual assault, especially when it involves individuals tasked with protecting and serving the public.
