TCG UFUK: Two Years of National Intelligence Service

Two years ago today, the Turkish Navy received TCG UFUK (A591), a national intelligence ship that was built by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) with STM as the main contractor. The delivery was marked with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other key officials.

TCG UFUK has specific general specifications including a total length of 99.5 meters, maximum width of 14.4 meters, and a capacity to accommodate 110 staff members for a sea stay of 60 days. The ship has a displacement of approximately 2250 tons and is also equipped for a 10-ton helicopter landing.

The ship was built in collaboration with various subcontractors, including Istanbul Maritime Shipyard, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, İŞBİR, ANEL, and YALTES, with a localization rate of 70 percent involving approximately 194 local companies.

TCG UFUK is 99.5 meters long and features four 750 kVA power generators that were produced by İŞBİR. The ship is capable of performing tasks such as SIGINT and ELINT, reaching a maximum speed of 18 knots per hour. It has a runway suitable for the landing and takeoff of 10-ton class helicopters, and can operate uninterruptedly in the open sea for 45 days.

The localization rate of the UFUK Ship, to which approximately 194 local companies contributed, reached 70 percent.
