Psychiatrist accused of writing prescriptions for money
A recent hearing at the Konya Courthouse has shed light on a disturbing case involving a Psychiatry Specialist identified as FK, who is accused of writing prescriptions for money. The hearing took place in the conference hall of the courthouse, with FK and two other detainees, defendants, and lawyers present.
One witness, identified as Mas, claimed to know FK through mutual friends and stated that he received a prescription for joint pain without even visiting the psychiatrist’s practice. Mas admitted to sending 3 thousand pounds in exchange for the medication. Another witness, DI, testified that FK diagnosed him with a “pain disorder” and prescribed medication after only five examinations.
After hearing these statements, the court decided to continue detaining FK while releasing the two other defendants. The investigation into the case was initiated by the Provincial Police Department Narcotics Crime Branch, who received information that FK was prescribing pills in exchange for money at his private clinic. Subsequent operations were carried out in Konya, Karaman, Antalya, and Ankara to investigate the alleged illegal trade of prescription medication.
The case highlights the importance of ethical conduct within the medical profession and serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of abusing one’s position for financial gain. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to ensure that justice is served.
