The Consequences of Israel’s Actions: Hunger in Gaza
A session titled “The danger of mass starvation in Gaza and attacks on humanitarian aid shipments” was held at the EP General Assembly, where MPs from various countries expressed their concerns about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Irish MP Grace O’Sullivan shared a heartfelt message she received from a father in Gaza, highlighting the desperate situation of the people living there. She emphasized that the crisis in Gaza was a result of Israel’s actions and the world’s inaction in responding to the cries for help.
Belgian MP Hilde Vautmans condemned the use of hunger as a weapon of war in Gaza and called for Israel to open all corridors for humanitarian aid to reach those in need.
Spanish MP Miguel Urban Crespo went as far as to label the situation in Gaza as a “genocide” and criticized the EU for not taking action to stop it.
Swedish MP Abir al-Sahlani pointed out the devastating impact of mass starvation on children in Palestine, emphasizing the urgent need for aid to be allowed into Gaza.
Greek MP Konstantinos Arvanitis questioned the right of the Palestinian people to exist in the face of ongoing forced displacement plans by the Israeli government.
Italian MP Dino Giarrusso described the situation in Gaza as “hell” and called for humanity to take responsibility for stopping the brutal war.
Irish MP Clare Daly criticized the EU and the USA for their lack of action in addressing the crisis in Gaza, pointing out the hypocrisy of cutting funding for humanitarian aid while increasing arms sales to Israel.
