The Dalton Gang’s Murder Prices: $1-5 Million
Ferit Zengin / ISTANBUL – In recent years, a criminal organization with motorized armed hitmen has been causing terror in many provinces, particularly in Istanbul. This organization, responsible for over 100 incidents including nearly 20 murders, has seen more than 300 of its members arrested in serial operations over the past 2 years. In a recent operation against the criminal organization, police uncovered the methods used by the gangs, from recruiting hitmen to finding customers.
The operation, named “Kuyu-36”, led to the arrests of 99 gang leaders and members, including prominent figures such as Murat Özavşar and Adnan Çolak. The gang, known as the “Daltons”, was divided into two factions following a falling out between its leaders who were imprisoned in Italy and Russia.
It was revealed that the gang recruited young individuals, aged between 20-25, as hitmen through social media platforms. Led by a model and actress named Deniz Giz Bebek, the gang operated by offering fees ranging from 1 to 5 million dollars for murder, and 1 million to 10 million lira for wounding and shooting.
The gang, based in Istanbul for the past 3 years, conducted armed attacks using stolen and rented motorcycles and vehicles, with ties to prominent business figures such as Murat Özavşar and Adnan Çolak. The gang leaders were found to have orchestrated attacks on behalf of businessmen involved in commercial disputes, using threats and violence to resolve conflicts.
The gang leaders, including Barış Boyun and Beratcan Gökdemir, managed their financial transactions and directed criminal activities through lawyers based abroad. Orders for attacks were conveyed through brokers, with letters containing instructions for violent acts sent to lawyers for evaluation and decision-making.
On social media, Deniz Giz Bebek displayed a fascination with weapons and crime, inviting followers to participate in violent acts against perceived wrongdoers. Describing himself as disciplined and organized, Deniz Giz Bebek used platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram to recruit individuals willing to act as hitmen for the gang.
The recent operations against this criminal organization have shed light on the dark and dangerous underworld activities that have plagued Istanbul and beyond. Law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to dismantle these criminal networks and bring those responsible to justice.
