Corruption and Terrorism Investigations Expand in Istanbul
According to CNN TÜRK, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Ekrem İmamoğlu, has decided to detain 106 people in connection with corruption and terrorism investigations. Confessions from those detained are expected to change the direction of the investigation.
Lawyer Zafer İşeri explained that confessors may benefit from an effective regret provision, potentially reducing a 30-year imprisonment to just 10 years for cooperating with authorities. This opportunity for reduced sentencing may encourage more individuals to come forward and confess to their involvement in criminal activities.
