A Callous Act of Theft: Man Steals from Unconscious Victim in Adana
An unfortunate incident took place on September 10 at around 04:30 in the Çınarlı Neighborhood of the Seyhan district. Metin Y., a factory worker, found himself feeling unwell while waiting for a minibus at the bus stop in İnönü Park. As he tried to rest on a bench, he ultimately passed out. It was during this vulnerable moment that İrfan D., who happened to be sitting in the park, noticed the situation and approached Metin Y.
However, instead of offering help or assistance, İrfan D. made a cunning move. Taking advantage of the situation and the lack of bystanders, he stole 6 thousand liras from Metin Y.’s pocket. But the theft did not stop there. İrfan D. also took Metin Y.’s cell phone and the gold necklace around his neck, before making a swift exit. The entire incident was recorded by a security camera in the area.
Upon regaining consciousness and realizing that he had been robbed, Metin Y. promptly reported the incident to the authorities. Responding to the report, the teams from the Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau launched an investigation. Thanks to the security camera footage, İrfan D.’s identity was revealed and he was apprehended during a police raid at his residence. A stolen mobile phone and the gold necklace were recovered during a search of his house.
İrfan D. admitted to the crime in his statement, confessing, “When I realized that he was feeling unwell and lying down, I went to him to help him. I suddenly gave in to temptation.” Following the necessary procedures, İrfan D. was brought to court and subsequently arrested. The stolen items were then returned to Metin Y.
This heartless act serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy and honesty, especially in times of crisis. The community stands united in condemning such despicable behavior and calls for justice to be served.
