The Tragic Consequences of Brotherly Love
A tragic incident unfolded in Sancaktepe when brothers Rıdvan and Yasin Akdoğan took matters into their own hands to confront a man who was harassing their sister. The confrontation took a deadly turn when Rıdvan Akdoğan shot and fatally wounded the harasser, Ali K., before accidentally shooting himself in the leg in the scuffle. Despite efforts to save his life, Rıdvan succumbed to his injuries 17 days later.
The disturbing incident, which was captured on a security camera, took place on July 12 in an office. Rıdvan and Yasin Akdoğan, upon learning about the harassment of their sister by Ali K., lured him to the office under the guise of a discussion. What transpired next was a violent altercation where Rıdvan attacked Ali K. before the fatal shots were fired.
Following the death of Rıdvan Akdoğan, his brother Yasin was taken into custody and later sentenced to house arrest for the crime of “Causing Death by Negligence” after a trial. The tragic events that unfolded that day serve as a stark reminder of the consequences of taking justice into one’s own hands.
