The Turkmen Leader Explores Turkestan Orient’s Tourism Projects
National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, recently visited Kazakhstan and made a special stop in the city of Turkestan alongside President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. During their visit, they explored the Turkistan visit center where they were briefed on various projects aimed at developing and enhancing the ancient settlement of Kultebe.
The projects presented included plans for the museumification of the historical site, where extensive archaeological excavations covering 27 hectares have already been completed. Additionally, a concept for the Center of Craftsmen was unveiled, which will soon be home to craft workshops, national gastronomic centers, an oriental bazaar, and hotels.
Notably, Turkestan recently received the prestigious status of “City of Craftsmen” from the World Craft Council, solidifying its reputation as a hub of traditional artisanal skills and crafts.
During their visit, the leaders also had the opportunity to view remarkable historical artifacts at the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi mausoleum, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
This visit highlights the commitment of both Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to preserving and promoting their cultural heritage, while also fostering economic development through tourism and craftsmanship initiatives.
