The UN Human Rights Council’s Complicity in Israel’s Attacks in Malaysia
Malaysian Representative Speaks Out Against Israel’s Attacks on Gaza at UN Human Rights Council
During the 55th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Malaysian representative Alamin expressed his deep concern over Israel’s recent bombing of Gaza. According to a report by Bernama, Alamin condemned the attacks and described the situation in Rafah as a “disaster.”
Alamin called for immediate action from the Council, stating, “The least we can do is to ensure that the Council acts in accordance with its powers. The silence, inaction, and preferential treatment of the Council also means complicity.” He emphasized the urgency of the situation and urged for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Having personally witnessed the humanitarian destruction on the Rafah-Gaza border, Alamin described the harrowing conditions faced by the victims as they try to survive in an environment that resembles an endless nightmare. He reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to standing by the oppressed and condemning oppression, vowing to continue advocating for justice and accountability.
Alamin also emphasized the need for Israel to be held responsible for the bloodshed and widespread destruction in the region. He stressed Malaysia’s unwavering support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations, asserting that Malaysia will not rest until justice is served and impunity is eliminated.
The international community continues to monitor the situation in Gaza closely, with calls for peace and humanitarian assistance growing louder in the face of escalating violence.
