Uzbek Women Illegally Crossing Indian-Nepalese Border Deported to Homeland
Three Uzbek women who were detained while illegally crossing the Indian-Nepalese border in Bihar have finally been deported from the country. The court of first instance in Araria ordered their deportation, and the process took several months due to bureaucratic obstacles and jurisdictional difficulties.
The court decision on deportation was made in August 2022, but the women remained imprisoned until July of this year. Thankfully, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi, they were able to return to their homeland on July 14. The Embassy coordinated with the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant departments of the state of Bihar to facilitate their repatriation.
In light of this incident, the Embassy of Uzbekistan advises its compatriots to be cautious before traveling to India. They urge individuals not to be swayed by false promises made by dubious groups or individuals. It is essential to strictly abide by the requirements of local legislation when entering and staying in the country.
