Top Turkish Doctor Furkan Burak’s Revolutionary Obesity Treatment using Fatty Acids
Furkan Burak Named Among Best Doctors in the United States
Dr. Furkan Burak, a researcher studying molecular metabolism at Harvard Medical School, has been recognized as one of the best doctors of the year in the United States. At just 36 years old, he became the youngest doctor to be included in the Castle Connolly organization list last year.
In an interview with Melike Şahin from NTV, Dr. Furkan Burak expressed his gratitude for being nominated by respected independent physicians and evaluated by an independent team of physicians. He emphasized the importance of receiving recognition for his work and the contribution it makes to humanity.
Dr. Burak’s research focuses on obesity treatment, where he has identified a method the body uses to deal with obesity through the use of a fatty acid called palmitic acid. By converting this fatty acid into drug form, he and his team at Harvard Medical School are conducting clinical tests to address obesity in humans.
With his groundbreaking studies, Dr. Burak predicts that medical biological treatment will surpass surgical treatment in combating obesity. He highlighted the significance of addressing damaged systems and replacing them biologically to solve the various health problems associated with obesity.
Having started his research journey in the United States in 2007, Dr. Burak credits scientist Aziz Sancar and Gökhan Hotamışlıgil for their mentorship and support. A graduate of Kocaeli University, Dr. Burak currently serves as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School.
