Traffic Monitoring Upgraded: Drones Deployed on Major Highways in Kyrgyzstan

In a significant advancement for road safety, the road patrol service in Kyrgyzstan has commenced the use of drones to monitor traffic conditions on the Bishkek—Osh and Bishkek—Naryn—Torugart highways. This initiative was announced by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui region.
To enhance awareness of this new surveillance technology, special roadside signs have been erected, informing drivers about the aerial monitoring in place. The integration of drones allows for real-time identification of serious traffic violations, such as driving in the wrong lane and using mobile phones while operating a vehicle.
Authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, urging drivers to stay focused and avoid distractions while driving. Notably, during a recent pilot test, officers recorded a staggering 30 violations in just half an hour, highlighting the urgency of improved road safety measures.
As this technology continues to evolve, it represents a proactive step towards making Kyrgyzstan’s roads safer for all users.
