The owner of the business, identified as H.Ö., and an Occupational Safety Specialist, Ö.K., have been arrested and sent to prison in connection with the incident.

Arda Tonbul’s father, Raşit Tombul, expressed his grief and frustration, stating that children are strictly prohibited from using the machine and that his son was only trying to learn from his master. He emphasized that if there had been an officer present, his child might have been saved with the first blow, emphasizing the crucial importance of workplace safety.

The tragic incident unfolded when Arda Tonbul was working on the sheet metal bending machine under the supervision of his master. While alone for a moment, his foot unknowingly hit the operating pedal of the machine, causing it to start and trap him. It took 16 minutes before anyone noticed the accident, and by that time, the young intern had sustained serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and Arda Tonbul was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment. Despite all efforts, he tragically lost his life.
