Two Tragic Elevator Accidents Claim Lives of Young Children in Ankara
Two separate elevator accidents in Ankara have resulted in the tragic deaths of two young children, sparking investigations into the incidents. The first incident took place on Kurbantepe Street in Atatürk Neighborhood, where Eren Alperen Kocayavuz, a student at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, fell from the 6th floor into an elevator shaft at a construction site where he was interning. Despite efforts by medical teams, Kocayavuz could not be saved.
The second incident involved 13-year-old Beren Su Bolat, who tragically lost her life after falling into the elevator shaft of an apartment building in the Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood. Bolat had gone to visit with her family when she and a friend became stuck in the elevator between the 5th and 6th floors. While one child was rescued, Bolat fell into the shaft for unknown reasons and passed away.
Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents, conducting examinations of the buildings involved. The tragic deaths have raised concerns about the safety and maintenance of elevator systems in buildings across Ankara.
