
Transport and Logistics Cooperation between Turkmenistan and China Discussed in Beijing

China-Turkmen Subcommittee on Transport and Logistics Cooperation Holds First Meeting
The first meeting of the subcommittee on transport and logistics cooperation of the China-Turkmen Cooperation Committee took place in Beijing on November 16. The Turkmen delegation, led by Mammetkhan Chakyev, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, attended the meeting. Representatives from various agencies of transportation in Turkmenistan were also present at the meeting.
The Chinese side, headed by Deputy Minister of Transport Li Yang, included participation from major companies such as China Railway International Multimodal Transport Co., Ltd, and China Road and Bridge Corporation.
During the meeting, the positive development of transport and logistics interaction between China and Turkmenistan was highlighted. The parties emphasized the need to explore the potential for creating new profitable goods delivery routes through Central Asia from China to Europe using the transport corridors of both countries.
Furthermore, both sides expressed their commitment to intensify the integration of China’s “One Belt – One Road” initiative and Turkmenistan’s “Revival of the Great Silk Road” strategy, in accordance with the objectives set by the heads of state of both countries.
Turkmenistan also expressed its willingness to offer Chinese companies favorable conditions for organizing logistics routes using existing terminals and logistics centers in Turkmenistan.
In addition to discussions on opening new routes for passenger and cargo air transportation and increasing transit volumes through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, both parties also addressed the strengthening of the contractual basis for international road freight transportation.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Minutes, outlining the intentions and further actions within the framework of the subcommittee on transport and logistics cooperation between Turkmenistan and China, and its working groups.
The mutual interest in deepening cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the field of employee training, digital solutions in logistics, and the implementation of intelligent transport systems, were also highlighted during the meeting.
Both sides expressed optimism about the future cooperation in the field of transportation and logistics and the potential for further growth in the partnership between China and Turkmenistan.
