Turkey Holds Elections; Overseas Votes Arrive!

Over 1.6 million Turkish voters living abroad have cast their votes in the Presidential and parliamentary elections. Polling started on April 27 and the final votes were counted on May 9. Some 532,175 ballots case in France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria were flown back for counting in Turkey. Two separate planes carried the remaining votes, which are being stored in a safe location by the Presidency of the Overseas District Election Board at the ATO Congresium Exhibition Center. Customs officials will allow voters registered in the foreign electoral register to continue to vote until May 14 at 5 pm.
