Turkey Leads Effort to Stop Shipment of Weapons to Israel
Under the leadership of Turkey, 52 countries and 2 international and regional organizations have called on the United Nations Security Council to take action to halt the shipment of weapons and ammunition to Israel.
A joint letter initiative, spearheaded by Turkey, saw the participation of 52 countries along with the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Among the signatories were countries such as Palestine, Bahrain, Bangladesh, and the United Arab Emirates, among others.
Turkey has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to exchange prisoners and establish a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. However, these efforts have been hampered by Israel’s aggressive policies.
The joint call to the UN Security Council reflects growing international concern over the situation in the region and the need for immediate action to prevent further escalation of violence. The signatories are hopeful that the Council will take decisive measures to address the issue and work towards a peaceful resolution.
