Turkish Armed Forces Aircraft Participates in NATO Country for the First Time
Two Turkish Armed Forces aircraft accomplished a historic milestone by conducting weapons control missions in the airspace of a NATO country for the first time.
The Ministry of National Defense made a statement regarding this significant accomplishment. The Air Force Command’s Air Warning Control Aircraft, taking off from the 3rd Main Jet Base Command in Konya, and the F-16 aircraft in Romania, met during a NATO mission as part of the Enhanced Air Policing mission.
This mission, within the scope of NATO Assurance Measures, marked the first time that an arms control mission was carried out in the airspace with entirely national elements from Turkey.
