The Spanish Army Makes Purchase of 41 Backhoe Loaders and 5 Wheeled Excavators from Turkish Company Hidromek
The Spanish Army has recently sealed a deal with the Turkish company Hidromek, purchasing a total of 41 backhoe loaders and 5 wheeled excavators. This acquisition, announced by X user Manuel Gomez Llano, is expected to enhance the capabilities available to engineers across different units within the Land Forces.
The Spanish Army has opted for Hidromek’s HMK102S model and HMK210W wheeled excavator as part of its renewed fleet of special vehicles for earthworks. With two contracts already awarded to Hidromek by the Army Logistics Support Command (MALE) in 2022, the machines will come equipped with armor, equipment, and logistics support packages tailored to fulfill the specific requirements of each vehicle. Furthermore, the backhoe loaders will be outfitted with a diverse range of attachments such as hydraulic breakers, vibratory compactor plates, and augers, among others.
As part of the agreement, Hidromek will also supply armored cabins to accommodate the deployment of these machines during operations abroad. This procurement signifies a significant step forward in enhancing the capabilities of the Army brigades’ sapper units and the 11th Engineer Specialist Regiment.
Of the machines acquired, the Hidromek HMK102S backhoe loaders have been designed for heavy working conditions and harsh geographical terrains, offering high oil flow and maximum breakout force, making them suitable for excavation, infrastructure and superstructure, agriculture, forestry, landscaping, and industrial applications. Meanwhile, the HMK210W wheeled excavator is equipped with a developed hydraulic system design for efficient fuel consumption and maximum productivity, ensuring durability and trouble-free operation in challenging field conditions.
The new hydro-mechanical equipment is anticipated to significantly contribute to the Spanish Army’s operational efficiency and readiness, preparing it for a wide range of tasks, including the restoration of roads and the excavation of trenches. With these latest acquisitions, the Spanish Army looks set to elevate its performance in field operations and strengthen its engineering capabilities to meet the demands of modern military engagements.
