Turkish F-16s Intercept Unidentified UAV in Idlib Airspace
Recently, Turkish F-16 Fighting Falcon warplanes were spotted in the skies over Idlib, Syria. According to sources from the Ministry of National Defense, the F-16s were deployed to intercept an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that was approaching Turkish military locations in Idlib.
Each Turkish F-16 was armed with 2 long-range (AIM-120 AMARAAM) and 2 short-range (AIM-9 Sidewinder) air-to-air missiles to intercept the UAV. Fortunately, the unidentified UAV was successfully removed from the region without any need for engagement.
In a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense, it was revealed that the UAV, which posed a potential threat to Turkish base areas in Idlib, was detected on January 7, 2024. The UAV was immediately intercepted and prevented from entering Turkish airspace by the Turkish Air Force.
