Twelfth "Turiada" Sports and Tourism Camp Set to Launch in Khvalynsk

The twelfth annual sports and tourism camp, "Turiada," is set to kick off on May 20 in Khvalynsk, Saratov Oblast. This popular event will see participation from various countries, including a delegation from Turkmenistan, as reported by the press service of Igor Komarov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District.

Held at the scenic "Khvalynsky" ski resort, "Turiada" is expected to draw around 800 participants from different regions across Russia and beyond. The main contingent comprises winners of regional competitions, students from tourism universities, coaches, experts, and dedicated volunteers.

This year marks an expansion of the event’s international scope, welcoming not just 14 teams from the Volga Federal District, but also teams from Turkmenistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia.

Over the course of four days, participants will engage in a variety of sports tourism events, including cycling, water activities, and pedestrian races. Notably, a project competition aimed at developing interregional tourist routes will highlight innovation in tourism. The winning project will be awarded a grant of 400,000 rubles to fund its implementation.

Participants can also look forward to a range of cultural and intellectual activities, including an intellectual marathon, a unique song contest titled "Music of Hearts," and a sports and tourism relay race. Additionally, competitions for junior participants will be held, all within a traditional tent camp setting.

The event will culminate in an official closing ceremony on May 23, featuring the attendance of Igor Komarov. The camp will conclude with a thrilling team relay race for the "Friendship Cup," with mixed international teams, including those from Turkmenistan, vying for the title.

This year’s "Turiada" promises to be an exciting blend of sport, culture, and international camaraderie.
