Turkmen Films Honored at International Film Festival in Turkey

The international film festival “Turan” held in Izmir, Republic of Türkiye on May 2–3, 2024, was a showcase of talent and creativity from around the world. The event, organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, featured 1055 films from 77 countries in its competition program.

Among the participants were three films from the film studio “Turkmenfilm” named after Oguzkhan. The films “Ol Rumystany görsem” directed by Kh.Alovov, “Umyt” directed by I.Annamuhammedov, and “Meniň kakam” directed by A.Eeberdiev represented Turkmenistan in the festival. “Ol Rumystany görsem” and “Umyt” were both honored with special awards and diplomas by the festival’s jury.

One of the standout films from Turkmenistan was “Ol Rumystany görsem”, a documentary dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi. The film, shot in Türkiye by Turkmen filmmakers, received acclaim for its depiction of the renowned figure and its ability to resonate with audiences globally.

In recognition of their cultural contribution, the creative association “Turkmenfilm” named after Oguzkhan was presented with an award by the festival organizers. The film festival “Turan” not only served as a platform for showcasing diverse cinematic works but also celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
