Turkmen Vocalists to Perform at CIS Grand Youth Choir’s Victory Day Celebration

Turkmen Vocalists to Join Grand Youth Combined Choir for Victory Day Concert in Moscow
In a remarkable celebration of musical unity and historical remembrance, ten vocalists from the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kulieva will perform with the Grand Youth Combined Choir of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) near the iconic Moscow Kremlin. This concert, set to take place on May 9th at Zaryadye Park, commemorates the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The event promises to be a captivating spectacle, featuring top Russian musicians, actors, and creative groups. Attendees can expect an innovative blend of dramaturgy and script, complemented by unique scenographic, visual, and lighting solutions, as noted in a statement from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
This concert marks the inaugural performance of the Grand Youth Combined Choir of the CIS, a project initiated last year by Russia’s Minister of Culture, Olga Lyubimova, at the XXXIX meeting of the CIS Council for Cultural Cooperation. Lyubimova highlighted the growing cultural ties among CIS countries, emphasizing collaborative efforts in various cultural projects, including exhibitions, concerts, festivals, and tours.
The Gnessin Russian Academy of Music has been appointed as the curator of this initiative, with plans for the youth ensemble to perform beloved wartime classics. According to Alexander Ryzhinsky, the academy’s rector, the repertoire includes iconic songs such as "The Sacred War" by Alexandrov and "Dark Night" by Bogoslovsky, among other treasured works from the era.
As the performance date approaches, anticipation builds for a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices made during the war, showcasing the power of music to unite communities and honor their shared history.
