Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Tajikistan meets with UN Resident Coordinator
On February 10th, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Tajikistan, Aymyrat Gochmyradov, had a meeting with the UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Ramaswami Parvati. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and highlight priority areas of collaboration in the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the significance of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ visit to Turkmenistan last summer, as well as a recent telephone conversation between the National Leader of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the UN Secretary-General. The Ambassador emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to active cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies, emphasizing the principles of neutrality, good neighborliness, and open dialogue in the country’s foreign policy.
The discussion also focused on the implementation of the tasks outlined in Turkmenistan’s Concept of Activities and Priorities within the International Year of Peace and Trust. A highlight of the conversation was the upcoming International Forum of Peace and Trust scheduled to take place in Ashgabat in December 2025, aiming to bring together participants from around the world to strengthen the global culture of peace.
Both parties acknowledged the special symbolism of 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN. The UN Resident Coordinator commended Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the international arena and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation and organize joint events. At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador presented the UN representative with a new book by the President of Turkmenistan focusing on the great Turkmen poet and philosopher, Magtymguly.
Overall, the meeting highlighted the strong commitment of Turkmenistan and the UN to promoting peace, security, and sustainable development on a global scale.
