Turkmenistan and BIE Orient Forge Stronger Partnership
The Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Maksat Charyyev, recently met with the Secretary General of the organization, Mr. Dimitri Kerkentzes, at the BIE headquarters on February 17th. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current status and future prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the BIE.
During the meeting, both parties acknowledged Turkmenistan’s active participation in the BIE’s Administrative and Budget Committee and its ongoing engagement with the organization. The Ambassador reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening ties and fostering productive collaboration with the Bureau International des Expositions. Of particular focus was the upcoming meeting of the BIE Administrative and Budget Committee, scheduled to take place in Ashgabat in March 2025.
Mr. Dimitri Kerkentzes expressed his gratitude to Turkmenistan for its proactive approach and dedication to enhancing cooperation, especially highlighting the country’s involvement in international exhibitions such as the World Expo in Osaka in 2025. He commended Turkmenistan for being one of the first countries to open its national pavilion at the World Expo.
The National Day of Turkmenistan at EXPO-2025 in Osaka is set for April 14th, immediately following the opening of the World Expo. The BIE Secretariat confirmed its readiness to collaborate further with Turkmenistan to promote international exhibition cooperation and ensure the successful execution of forthcoming events.
Overall, the discussions at the meeting reflected a mutual commitment to strengthening ties and working together to advance the goals of international exhibition cooperation. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the BIE is set to flourish in the coming months, with a focus on promoting cultural exchange and innovation on the global stage.
